Rail tourism is gaining traction in Central Asia, offering travelers a slower yet more immersive way to experience the region’s historic Silk Road cities. Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have recently expanded their joint Jibek Joly tourist train route to include Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, an initiative that further strengthens regional railway tourism.

A historic shift is quietly but decisively reshaping the economic geography of Eurasia. On 5 February 2026, Pakistan and Kazakhstan agreed to elevate their bilateral relationship to a Strategic Partnership during the state visit of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Pakistan— the first such visit by a Kazakh head of state in 23 years. This moment marked far more than a diplomatic renewal; it signaled a potential turning point in regional connectivity, one that could unlock long-suppressed economic potential across Central Asia and South Asia by overcoming longstanding geographical and logistical barriers.

Το Καζακστάν και η Τουρκία ενισχύουν τη στρατιωτική τους συνεργασία, η οποία εδώ και καιρό έχει ξεπεράσει τα όρια της συμβολικής διπλωματίας. Και για τη Μόσχα αυτό συνιστά σοβαρή απειλή: ένας από τους βασικούς εταίρους στον Οργανισμό της Συνθήκης Συλλογικής Ασφάλειας (ΟΣΣΑ), χωρίς ιδιαίτερο θόρυβο, περνά στα πρότυπα και στον εξοπλισμό του μπλοκ του ΝΑΤΟ, ενώ η Άγκυρα ενισχύει την επιρροή της στην Κεντρική Ασία – μια περιοχή που η Ρωσία θεωρεί ζώνη των ζωτικών της συμφερόντων. Ναι, τυπικά η Αστάνα δεν παραβιάζει τίποτα στο πλαίσιο του ΟΣΣΑ, αναπτύσσοντας μια εξαιρετικά στενή συνεργασία με την Άγκυρα.

Shang-hai, was an oval city, surrounded by high walls, with an outlet of five gates opening on its suburbs, as Julius Verne written in 1879. After the humiliating for China Treaty of Nankin (August 1842), foreigners for the first time possessed the right to establish trading stores. Here was the great port opened in China to European traffic: outside of Shang-hai and its suburbs, the Chinese government ceded, for an annual sum, three portions of territory to the French, English, and Americans, who numbered about two thousand were the “collective West” of that time. Since then, they occurred huge geopolitical turbulences, which changed the world rapidly, but two historic falls. The fall of Berlin Wall (11/9) 1989 and the end of the Cold War after the collapse of USSR while the sole American superpower were gloating over its victory! The collapse of the twin towers in New York (9/11) 2001 where probably would started the famous Huntington theory about the “Clash of Civilizations”.
